Romfilatelia celebrates Beethoven’s 250th birthday with two stamps!

Romfilatelia joins other postal series and issues two stamps celebrating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. Many people consider him as the greatest composer in the world of all time. Indeed, Ludwig van Beethoven had a huge talent and wrote a lot of masterpieces even after the onset of deafness. The stamps feature the portraits of Ludwing van Beethoven, alongside with scores of the composer.

Ludwig van Beethoven was a ground-breaker, in all senses. He oversaw the transition of music from the Classical style, full of poise and balance, to the Romantic style, characterized by emotion and impact. Having written nine symphonies, 32 piano sonatas, one opera, five piano concertos, and many chamber works, Beethoven one of the most a profilic composers of his time. He felt bitter and isolated by the deafness which developed in his 20s; he never married. Even so, nowadays people from around the world consider him to be a genius.
