In 2019, the Slovak Republic will hold the Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) for the first time in its history. This is the world's largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization. To celebrate this important event, Slovakia Post presented an interesting stamp featuring rain and an umbrella that symbolise protection and Slovakia’s chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
With 57 participating states in North America (including the United States), Europe and Asia, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is the world’s largest regional security organization. It aims to secure stability, peace and democracy for more than a billion people. The graphic design of postage stamp was created by the artist Adrian Ferda. For the postage stamp he chose the motif of an umbrella created by the Northern Hemisphere where the states that participate in the OSCE are located. It represents the concept of protection against the adverse effects that threaten security.
