Special stamp for England v New Zealand Test

Special stamp for England v New Zealand Test

A limited edition stamp will be released on May 15th for the first England v New Zealand Test at Lord's Cricket Ground. Issued by the MCC in association with Bletchley Park Post Office the stamp features Lord's famous Old Father Time weathervane.

A limited edition first day cover will also be issued. This is a specially prepared envelope to which the stamp will be added and cancelled using a unique MCC postmark for the opening day of the test match. The envelope design is based on John Ritchie's famous 1860 painting of village cricket. Only 500 of these individually numbered covers will be issued.

This is the first of 5 match day covers to be issued for the 2008 season at Lord's. Each will feature a different painting from the MCC Collection on the theme of Going to the Cricket, which is the title of a new display in the MCC Museum. Each issue will have its own unique stamp and postmark.
