Stamp from Lithuania for Fathers with a Drawing of a Three-Year-Old Girl

Stamp from Lithuania for Fathers with a Drawing of a Three-Year-Old Girl

Lithuania Post will commemorate Father's Day by releasing a new stamp. The stamp dedicated to all fathers will appear in circulation on Saturday, June 1.

This is the first stamp released in Lithuania for Father’s Day. The stamp will be issued in the edition of 80 thousand copies with a nominal value of LTL 1.35.

Along with the stamp, the first day cover and sheet will be released.

The author of the stamp, the artist Egle Jakutaviciute, has created the stamp using her three-year-old niece‘s drawing under the title "Daddy". The drawing of niece was also used for another stamp released on May 4; it was dedicated to Mother's Day.

Father's Day was founded in the United States of America. The movement to honour all fathers was initiated by Louise Dodd, whose father had raised six children after her mother's death. In Lithuania, Father's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of June.
