Stamp of approval on Flann O'Brien's centenary

On October 6, An Post issued a stamp to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Brian O'Nolan, also known as Flann O'Brien and Myles na gCopaleen, one of the great Irish humorous and satirical writers of the 20th century.

The stamp is based on a portrait of Brian O'Nolan by his brother, Micheal O Nuallain, and was designed by Steve Simpson. The first day cover was also designed by Steve Simpson and features a photograph of the noted author.
