Stamps by Russian Post to commemorate Andrei Tupolev

Stamps by Russian Post to commemorate Andrei Tupolev

Russian Post issued a set of stamps commemorating Andrei Tupolev, pioneer of Soviet aircraft designer. In the years 1920s he founded the Experimental Design Bureau of Aviation, which was creating the aircrafts on the basis of the latest achievements in the field of aeronautical science and engineering. The bureau released dozens of different types of experimental and production aircraft, which took off to the skies in the XX century, as well as hundreds of original projects, often not having analogues in the practice of domestic and international aircraft, and largely anticipated the main directions of aviation development in Russia and abroad.

The stamps feature Tu-2, TB-7, Tu-16 and Tu-22M3 and Tu-95.
