Sunflowers as the most joyous and flamboyant flowers

FindYourStampsValue.com hurries to inform that Poland Post has unveiled a special stamp featuring Sunflower under the Flowers and fruits series. This sunny and colorful issue was released and put on sale on the 26th of June.

The sunflower is a plant in the family Asteraceae, with a large flower head (capitulum). The stem of the flower can grow up to 3 metres tall, with a flower head that can be 30 cm wide. The outer petal-bearing florets are the sterile florets and can be yellow or other colours. The florets inside the circular head are called disc florets, which mature into seeds.

While the vibrant, strong sunflower is a recognized worldwide for its beauty, it is also an important source of food. Sunflower oil is a valued and healthy vegetable oil and sunflower seeds are enjoyed as a healthy, tasty snack and nutritious ingredient to many foods.
