Swiss Post released the unique “Sustainability” stamp that was designed by the winner of the competition conducted by the Postal Service in conjunction with the Bern University of the Arts. The item was created by Carole Kiechl who decided to show the real puzzle on this special philatelic issue for encouraging people to complete the world search before sending the mail or after receiving the letter.
This linguistic riddle already has the circled word “HELVETIA” and the face value “100”, but it also contains other twenty-four German, French, and Italian words related to sustainability to be found.
Twenty-two students participated in the philatelic competition. Their task was to present various dimensions of sustainability in a positive and appealing way in a stamp design. After researching a great variety of creative techniques, they worked in groups to produce extensive visual worlds. Then each student had to work on the project individually. As a result, 22 varied, amazing, and highly original designs were produced, but only eight of them were selected and presented to the Stamp commission in the final round.
