Iceland: Christmas Stamps
A pine tree and an apple serve as motifs for the Christmas Stamps this year. These are simple and cherished symbols for Icelandic Christmas. The apple refers to the not so distant past when fruits were considered a rarity in the country. New Caledonia Christmas issue: multiethnic nativity scene depicted on stamp
New Caledonia unveil their Christmas issue on 8th December featuring the nativity. The stamp has been designed by Sebastien Lesire and depicts a multiethnic scene in order to reflect the island. The island, with a population of around 215,000, has been celebrating Christmas since 1843 after the arrival of four French missionaries: Mgr Douarre, Pierre Rougeyron, Jean Taragnat and Blaise Marmoitton.
Hungary: Christmas 2004
Christmas stamps, which make greetings more personal, regularly appear in the Hungarian Post Office Ltd.'s stamp issuing practices. This year's denomination is a reprint of the HUF 38 postage stamp issued in 2002 by changing the denomination.
