The centennial of Dentistry’s College founding celebrated by Philippines Post
According to info received by FindYourStampsValue.com the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) issued commemorative stamps on the occasion of the centennial celebration of the University of the Philippines College of Dentistry's (UPCD) founding. The stamp was unveiled and put into circulation on the 20th of February.
The stamp shows the UPCD centennial logo featuring the image of the Staff of Asclepius (a rod intertwined with a serpent) associated with healing and an image of a mouth mirror – the common dental instrument. The backdrop is the building of the UPCD.
Established on February 8, 1915 as part of the UP College of Medicine and Surgery, the UPCD is located at the corner of Taft Avenue and Pedro Gil Street, within the U.P. Manila Campus.
Aside from dental training and undergraduate instruction, the UPCD was the one which introduced community dentistry in the country. It also offers graduate course in Orthodontics, the first Masters of Science in Dentistry Degree in the Philippines.
