
Isle of Man Post introduced six great stamps to celebrate a private and diverse collection of road-going vehicles of all models and sizes. The images for this special stamp issue were provided by the museums and taken from various collections. The designer used beautiful metallic ink when creating this stunning philatelic release. Besides, each item features a postcode of each of the museums to help visitors find the particular vehicle using satellite navigation.
The first stamp is devoted to the Manx Transport Heritage Museum that can be found in Mill Road, Peel. Today this cultural establishment offers a comprehensive library, a shop with posters, postcards, videos, and back copies of their quarterly magazine NewsRound, which is sent free to members.
The second item celebrates the Jurby Transport Museum, which contains an extensive collection of vehicles with buses dating from 1927 to 1997. Here you can also view modern vehicles like a Leyland Olympian and a Dennis Dart. The Museum is run by a group of volunteers as The Manx Transport Trust.
The third stamp shows the vehicle from the Murray’s Motorcycle Museum, which houses a remarkable collection of rare and vintage machines dating back to the 1890s. Besides, here you can view packed with the machines of every era and variety complemented by countless photos and publications.
The fourth item from this issue is devoted to the A.R.E. Classic Motorcycle Collection that houses a unique private collection of more than 100 old motorcycles, with makes including, Ariel, Greeves, and Triumph. A special focus is set on machines from the 1930s and all vehicles are kept running and in pristine condition.
The fifth stamp features a vehicle from the Milntown Car & Motorcycle Collection that includes 26 vehicles circa 1900 to 1978. The star of this accumulation is the oldest and most original auto on the Isle of Man, a 1900 New Orleans Voiturette the authentic Victorian horseless carriage.
And the last item from this set celebrates the Isle of Man Motor Museum that contains more than 500 vehicles of all types and all eras. Each exhibit of the Museum is unusual and often has a very personal story behind it.
