
Canada Post issued a series of stamps "Indigenous Leaders". It is dedicated to talented women who protected the culture, language, and art of their native tribes located in Canada. Their input as well as their great influence to the country is impossible to underestimate. The designs of stamps showcase the women's portraits with a beautiful background and vivid colors. These postal items are already available for purchase since June, 2024.

9.1 Elisapie Isaac (Release: June 13, 2024) stamp
Elisapie has an unconditional love for the Inuit culture. She expresses it via her songs and art. Born and reared in Northern Quebec, Elisapie developed a talent for storytelling, writing and singing in three languages Inuktitut, French, English.
This woman is a renowned documentary filmmaker. She got two Felix Awards and a JUNO Award in the "Modern Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year" for her album "Inuktitut".
9.2 Josephine Mandamin (Release: June 18, 2024) stamp
Anishinaabe Elder Josephine Mandamin (1942–2019) is also known as Grandmother Water Walker. She trekked over 25,000 kilometers to teach people how to protect the water. She was the co-founder of the Mother Earth Water Walk movement.
This community organizes treks along the Great Lakes in Canada and the United States. They also share ceremonies, rituals and knowledge.
9.3 Christi Belcourt (Release: June 25th, 2024) stamp
Christi Belcourt is a great visual artist from Canada. Her paintings depict traditional flower beading from her community. Christi's artworks appreciate nature, commemorate her ancestors, and preserve her culture and language.
