Portugal Post and Correos introduced two spectacular Christmas souvenir sheets that amaze everyone with their shining beauty and originality.
Portugal’s souvenir sheet, which contains one stamp, features the Star of Bethlehem that shines extra bright thanks to a light-emitting diode activated by cell phone. As the Post Office claims: “this is the world’s first postage stamp with an LED…”. The LED is a part of the star that is shown on the top of a stamp. It illuminates the baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Portugal Post also issued three other Christmas 2019 stamps dedicated to the three wise men, also known as the Magi.
Spanish Post presented a beautiful souvenir sheet showing the Star of Bethlehem as a comet. As Correos explains: “Over the centuries experts have tried to explain the Star of Bethlehem, and that one theory was that it was Halley’s comet”. The star and comet’s tail are formed by an arrangement of 12 stamps (identified by the letter “A”) and partial images of the stamp. In addition Correos also released two interesting Christmas 2019 stamps.
