The Nude in Art – an exquisite stamp released by Monaco Post!

Monaco Post introduced to collectors’ attention a special “The Nude in Art” stamp. This theme is popular among philatelists and Monaco Post releases such interesting stamps every year. This time the item features a painting from the Prince's Palace Collection that illustrates the theme of the nude in art perfectly.

The Prince’s Palace in Monaco is a private residence, but the State Apartments are open to visitors for part of the year. Prince Honoré II assembled substantial collections of artworks here, which unfortunately disappeared during the French Revolution, when the Palace was looted and used as a hospital for troops from the Italian Army. The stamp shows a work of 1890 of the French Painter Pierre- Auguste Renoir(1841—1991) entitled Baigneuse's arrangements les cheveux. The landsape and posture of the young woman inspires calm and serenity.
