The passions of the Romanian kings – four stamps released!

Romfilatelia introduced four great stamps on an exciting topic - The passions of the kings of Romania. The issue reveals the interests of Romanian rulers beyond their occupations as monarchs and involvement in political affairs. The stamps show such kings as Carol I, Ferdinand I, King Carol II, Michael I. This interesting philatelic release was designed by George Ursachi.

The stamp with the face value of Michael I shows Carol I who was fond of horseback riding and bibliophily. Besides he has a deep knowledge of wood and metalworking. The second item with the face value of Lei 1.70 features Ferdinand I who was an expert in botany. He was also a passionate reader, had a deep interest in the fields of art, music, and chemistry, and knew five languages.

The third item with the face value of Lei 10.50 is dedicated to King Carol II who remained in history as one of the most important collectors in the world, both by the theme of the stamps and by the rarity of the philatelic pieces. He owned a famous “Bull’s Head” item, as well as other well-known stamps. And the fourth stamp with the face value of Lei 19 is devoted to Michael I who was the last king of Romania. His passion was aviation and he is known as the first monarch in the world to be an aviator.
