New spaghetti postage stamp

A special postage stamp dedicated to the annual "spaghetti all'amatriciana" festival in the town of Amatrice in northeast Lazio will be released on 29 August. It will be part of the "Made in Italy" series of stamps issued by Poste Italiane and follows on the heels of the stamp dedicated to "Zafferano dell' Aquila" (saffron from L'Aquila), which was released on 26 July.

The 60-cent stamp will depict Amatrice's Corso Umberto I together with a list of the ingredients that constitute the well-loved pasta dish originating from the town: spaghetti, guanciale (pork jowl), olive oil, white wine, tomatoes, chilli peppers and pecorino cheese.
