The Apex Postal Auction 142 on Sept 24th achieved highly satisfactory results with sales well in excess of £200,000 from around 750 bidders.

Some notable realisations from a strong GB section included £2700 for lot 141, a block of 4 1d black from plate 6, £1500 for lot 306, a fine £1 SG 129 with Glasgow cds and £2300 for lot 308, £1 Anchor SG 132 with West Strand cds.

Lot 411, 1887 Jubilee 1/- green and carmine marginal u/m with inverted watermark was sold for £1500, a marginal u/m 2 1/2d 1912 Prussian blue, lot 570 fetched £1000, a fine mint £1 Seahorse, lot 626 realised £2000 and lot 1068, a mint example of the 1882 5/- IR Official was knocked down for £2200.

The Commonwealth market remains very strong and some exceptional results here included £1100 for lot 2240, 1906 Brunei 1c with the scarce black overprint variety, £1600 for lot 2930 a fine u/m example of the Falklands 1933 Centenary £1, £810 for the u/m Gibraltar £5, lot 3455 and £800 for lot 4345, KUT 1903 10r fine mint with inverted watermark.

Of particular interest proved to be lot 5286 the Nauru 10/- Seahorse overprinted Specimen with 'Nauru printed double, one albino' with an estimate of £1200, which realised £1900.
