Celebrating the first World Bee Day. Four colourful stamps presented by Greece Post
FindYourStampsValue.com is glad to present four bright stamps released by Greece Post to celebrate the World Bee Day. These colourful items were issued to raise awareness of the importance of bees and beekeeping. Slovenia proposed that the United Nations (UN) proclaim 20 May as World Bee Day. The date for this observance was chosen as it was the day Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern apiculture, was born.
So, the key objective of this special celebration is to raise awareness about the crucial role played by bees in sustainable development, at the same time warning of their declining numbers. For centuries bees, busy as they are known to be, have benefited people, plants and the planet. Bees first appeared on Earth 15 million years ago and became one of the few types of insect that are useful for people. Bees are also a symbol which became a source of inspiration for all forms of art from prehistoric times to the present. The contribution of bees to the environment and to the human race is not limited to their highly beneficial products.
We invite you to take a look at other bright stamp issues that focus on the vital role honeybees and their importance for our society.
