Malta Post honors COVID-19 Health Care Heroes with three stamps!

Malta Post honors COVID-19 Health Care Heroes with three stamps!

Malta Post introduced to collectors’ attention a special stamp issue consisting of three items that pay tribute to Malta's healthcare workers who give their help to the patients during the pandemic. The stamps also appreciate the hard work performed during COVID-19  by carers, nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel who risk their health saving people’s lives and supporting their well-being.

The first patient with COVID-19 symptoms was registered in Malta on 7 March 2020. This 12-year old Italian girl, as well as her parents who were also found positive, were isolated following the restrictions imposed by Maltese health authorities. The second wave of pandemic appeared to be even worse than the first one, mainly because of inconsistent reporting by the government of Malta and its extreme loyalty to businesses, many of which remained open during the COVID-19.

Two of the stamps show paintings by Madeleine Gera and the other reproduces a painting by Andrew Micallef.
