Swedish Waterlilies on Stamps

Swedish Waterlilies on Stamps

Four waterlily motifs designed by Inga-Karin Eriksson are found on this year's summer stamps for greetings sent from Sweden to other countries.

The waterlily is a perennial water plant and Sweden is home to yellow and white waterlilies as well as the rare red waterlily, which is a variation of the white waterlily.

A long time ago the waterlily was linked to the evil spirit of the water, Nacken, and people were warned not to swim where waterlilies grew.
