FindYourStampsValue.com would like to introduce a new special stamp dedicated to Slovenian Industrial design. This issue depicts Tomos 4 - one of the most popular and best recognized models that Tomos boasted as a manufacturer of high-quality outboard engines. The stamp was released on the 28th of November.
In the period from the 1970s to the 1990s, there were more than 300,000 Tomos 4 engines in use around the world each day. Fishermen, sailors, divers and other nautical enthusiasts were proud to use them.
Experienced technicians at the Tomos Institute in Koper developed an efficient, productive and reliable motor. The Tomos 4 was distinguished by a precision air-cooled two-stroke motor that combined all the characteristics to ensure high efficiency and faultless operation under the most demanding conditions. The engine was quiet, economical and, with a full tank it could operate up to seven hours at maximum capacity.
The engine size was 60 cc, and it developed 4 HP of power with 420 N of thrust. It weighed just 15.5 kg. With its outboard engines Tomos set increasingly high standards, dictating a development trend that no one could match for many years.
