World Toilet Day – an extraordinary theme for a new issue by Samoa Post

According to info received by Samoa Post introduced its new extraordinary issue on theme World Toilet Day. The release consists of four stamps that were unveiled and put into circulation on the 19th of November.

Samoa in joining the United Nations family in celebrating this global event launched for the first time ever in the world its World Toilet Day Stamps, on World Toilet Day showing the importance of hygiene and sanitation in Samoa.

One of the most obvious consequences of poor sanitation is diseases. Around 3,000 children die every day around the world from water, sanitation and hygiene related diseases like diarrhoea, pneumonia, worms and trachoma rife. These diseases are easily avoided by having cleaner toilet facilities.

Samoa has had medical cases of Diarrhoea and Typhoid Fever and other water and sanitation related diseases. In light of that, it needs to have improved facilities to protect its water resources and Environment.

Thus resolution calls for greater attention and awareness specifically on sanitation crisis through the commemoration of World Toilet Day.
