One of the first countries that recognized stamps as the means of postal correspondence was Brazil. In 1822, it gained independence from Portugal and became an empire under the emperor Dom Pedro II.

He led the country to economic growth and international trade, which required postal stamp usage.

In 1842, shortly after the Penny Black was released, the government of Brazil signed a special decree. It standardized postage rates and introduced stamps as the prepayment of mail. On August 1, 1843, Brazil became the second independent nation to issue stamps in denominations of 30, 60, and 90 réis. Now they are highly valued in philately.

Germany was one of the first countries with which Brazil started its trade and economic relationships. Remembering this period in history, Deutsche Post released a postal set, celebrating 200 years since the first letter had been sent from Brazil to Germany.

Immanuel Kant is a key philosopher of the Enlightenment and one of the greatest thinkers in Western philosophy. Due to his impressive intelligence, he started high school at eight years old and entered university at the age of 16, which was too early at that time.

In 1770, he became a professor of logic and metaphysics at the University of Königsberg, maintaining a remarkably strict routine for the rest of his life. His students even joked they could check their watches by his daily timetable.

In 2024, Deutsche Post released a commemorative stamp, honoring the 300th birthday of this outstanding philosopher and genius.
